OPERATION: I Can Take it From Here
Local Outreach / National Impact
Who We Are
We believe trauma resolution is the key to change. We believe in taking a different approach to solving problems. Our leadership team consists of individuals with direct, lived experience in navigating the very challenges we now empower others to overcome.
Our Vision
- We envision a country where the nearly 80 million Americans with a criminal history have healed from the underlying trauma that led them out of the workforce and into the criminal justice system.
- Our goal is to address and heal unresolved emotional issues for formerly incarcerated individuals, whom we refer to as restored citizens, representing 1 in 3 Americans.
- We aim to reintegrate these restored citizens into the workforce and society, enabling them to contribute to their communities and our country.
Our Method
- We use Clinical Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) to address trauma, with a focus on formerly incarcerated individuals and their families.
- We prepare formerly incarcerated individuals to re-enter the workforce at their qualified level, particularly focusing on those who earned degrees while incarcerated and possess skills beyond entry-level.
Why It's Important
Unresolved trauma often lies at the root of many persistent social issues. Therefore, addressing trauma should be central to efforts aimed at resolving these problems. The current scale of trauma in the U.S. constitutes a national emergency. Immediate action is crucial if we are to shape a better future.

“While I've long been a proponent of second chance initiatives, Lisa Forbes' memoir forced me to rethink how best to impact change. As the leader of the world's largest HR association, I have focused on helping returning citizens get jobs. In her book Lisa argues that, while housing and jobs are indeed a major obstacle to returning citizens, addressing the underlying trauma that leads so many to the criminal justice system should be at the real core of our work as society."
